Summary: Most of the time, people say that the dolls are the creepiest aspects of ventriloquism. And most of the time, they're right. But rarely anyone gives much of a thought to the actual ventriloquist. Not exactly something you gloss over sometimes...
History: Long ago, ventriloquist Mary Shaw humiliated and killed a boy, Michael Ashen, for acting like a prude during one of her shows. Oh, and she turned him into a doll too. One out of hundreds of hers. In revenge, the Ashens cut out her tongue, and had her killed too. All of her dolls were buried with her. But now, Shaw has risen from the grave as a vengeful spirit, seeking to murder the entire Ashen bloodline and cut out their tongues too. And she has all of her living dolls at her disposal.
Notable Kills: She cuts out tongues. What more do you want?
Final Fate: Just about all of Shaw's dolls are burnt to ashes along with her theater. But then it's revealed that she turned one of the last Ashens into a doll too, and uses it to help her murder the last one. Mary's revenge is done. Oh, and all of those tongues were used to repair her own.
Powers/Abilities: Can possess any one of her dolls, as well as convert living beings into new ones.
Weakness: Should all of the dolls burn, she will lose all control.
Scariness Factor: 3.5-Sadly, some awful effects work ruins a lot of the scenes where Shaw's powers come into play. That being said, she is a terrifying character in her own right. A shriveled hag who couldn't take criticism, who slices tongues off so that her victims bleed to death, and on top of all of that, is great at playing everybody. Beware the dummies...
Trivia: -Mary was played by Judith Roberts, who got her filmographic start in "Eraserhead", and has this as her most recognized role.
-If you look closely in this film, you'll notice that one of Mary's dolls is Billy of "Saw" fame. This is most likely a nod to the fact that both films share the same director.
